@ Nishi Roy... I think the usage of the word ”riot” doesn’t suffice the occasion. First things first. Can such an event take place in the country in the first place? Lets be hypothetical and presume , it does take place. But will it escape the scrutiny of the moral police like RSS, BJP, and other religious zealots?

Wouldn’t such a scene distract the onlookers’ attention from the purpose of the protest towards something completely unconnected? It will only end up providing a lot of free entertainment rather than advancing the purported cause. Imitating such activities to make us appear to be at par with those countries is just unnecessary. There are other ways to register one’s protest against something.

I think this ides worked, since this anti pollution campaign was meant to attract media, and if i sitting in india am reading this on this site, i guess the idea is pretty much traveled a long distance. have to say, those people have guts to protest in this way. a different way, but certainly this is 21 century, for attaining attention for a good issue one has to go a mile ahead.

I’d say it worked. It’s an odd way of getting what you want but I think just the fact of getting them off the streets they might compromise.

The point is that to gain attention, its necessary to resort to bizzare tactics. Be it any cause, the prob is to get it to limelight. Remember, few months back, a lady was walking in just bare clothes to a police station in Gujarat to seek the attention of law makers and media to help her fight against dowry harassment? It immediately hit the headlines all over India. otherwise thousands of such cases go unheard.
