Here at Design blog we don’t always focus on designs and concepts that intend to satisfy the whims of luxurious as well as easy living. Zeroing down on certain nasty realities of life, here is the Shelter Cart that is designed to help the homeless...

As I read this post, I realised how insensitive we have become. Seeing so many baggers and rag-packers everyday, we hardly now notice them...
hmmmm, not good...
But yes, brilliant work by these guys for thinking of this concept and thanks Deepa for this post...
Remember Phil Collins ”Another day in Paradise” ?

I liked the concept of designing soemthing for the ones who don’t have a place in our society nor hearts.
Hey, one of my most favorite number is ’Another day in Paradise’ :)

You know many a times when my wife and I stop at traffic signal and kids come to beg, we argue whether we should give money or not.
She feels we should, and I feel giving money is just a ”feel good” for us and it’s only going to encourage them to beg more.... Though theres not much I do otherwise to help them anyways, but one thing I do try to do is if I see small kids selling news papers, balloons, etc I do buy from them ... to encourage them to work and not to beg. But that hardly makes any difference..

Reading this post immediately reminded me the song deepa... wot these guys have done is indeed noble.

Another thing that disturbs both my wife and me is when our little one sees kids or old person coming to our car window and beg... he does not understand what they are doing and looks so confused ... wot do we explain to him? :(

Same is the dilemma of all the folks who want to help them. just yesterday we were out for breakfast at an udipi joint and after we walked out, there was this 5 year girl holding a 1-2 year old sibling who was howling of hunger. Instead of giving them money, we bought them a plate of idli.
It hurts to see such innocent kids who are not eligible to work also, suffering so much.

Hmmmm ... thats the correct thing to do.. rather than giving money, try to help them out this way.
Have heard of baggers ”renting out” small babies as they create easy sympathy to get money... so rather than giving money and encourage them to follow this practice, its good to feed them.
