Me to was wondering the same. The sex ratio has completely tilted on one side. 2,50,000 brides is a large number!!!!!!

Wow! Maybe Serbian people are also pro-boys and it has lead to shortage of girls? But won’t getting girls from other neighbouring countries lead to domestic problems due to cultural differences? In India, intercaste marriages lead to so much friction in some families, wonder how so many marriages will cope with that.

If they don’t take this step then the existence of their race is at stake I suppose.

Its the survival of the race issue that makes our own society so damn strict about inter caste and inter racial marriages! Perhaps we should learn something form the Serbs here and get over our boy child and race obssessions!!

Had read somewhere that in some villages in Punjab, we have similar problem due to female - male ratio and many brothers ’share’ wife.

I feel ’importing’ is a much better idea than Sharing.

Do yu guys remeber 3 or 4 years ago, there was a movie featuring Nandita Das which depicted the large downfall in sex ratio, which made the guy’s familiy pay for the bride ! can yu beat that! the age-old tradition of dowry was set topsy-tervy..

The preference of boy child over girl child is leading to these kind of serious complications in society but still people continue believing in this stupid idea.
Just imagine Serbia as a country is facing this problem! How stupid people are.
