Obesity is rampant. And I’m not talking about body flab. I’m talking about obesity of language.

Length and content of writing also depends a lot on the writer’s frame of mind at that moment.
In my case, sometimes I can go on swiftly while other times, I find it difficult to frame an appropriate sentence :)

I am not a writer contributor at Insta and my writing is limited only to official communications, but to give a reader’s perspective, unless the story demands I dislike very lengthy articles. Also it puts me off when a writer tries to show off his/her knowledge of language by using words that are not used in every day life. At times to convey the right meaning, some uncommon words needs to be used but otherwise I feel articles should use language that will be understood by all readers (remember Om Prakash and Dharmendra in Chupke Chupke lol). And finally the knowledge of the topic.
And revised and edited write-ups always are a pleasure to read.

Point noted.....Mr. avid Instablogs reader. I too agree that using uber-difficult words may result in the need of dictionary for majority of the readers.
Lol i liked the comparison to Om Prakash and Dharmendra in Chupke Chupke :))))))

LOL!! Chupke Chupke came to my mind immediately when I thought of linguistic skill show off. Its my all time favorite movie... I die laughing every time I watch it :))

LOL!!! That is a brilliant comparison brother. This apart, It is true that the use of some useless words makes the write-up boring to an extent. Anything one pens down should be simple to the level where every reader enjoys and understands what is being written. A social platform like insta needs more of such articles to attract more and more readers. Heavy words never make you a good writer, however, to have a good vocabulary is a handy tool at all times.

Thanks Atul. Did I mention the importance of humor while writing? :)
I agree the importance of having good vocabulary, but as you have mentioned
”Anything one pens down should be simple to the level where every reader enjoys and understands what is being written.”... Insta attracts readers of all types so its important to make the write-ups crisp, interesting and simple.

More readerships and reader’s feedback do give a boost to writers. Here at insta, we have huge scope to give feedback, get feedback and improve our writing skills. Insta can be a great learning experience for aspiring writers.

Aspiring writers have never had it better. With internet, they are getting instant feedback from their readers and to the reader it gives an opportunity to get involved in the article and interact with the writer... isn’t this is awesome!

Yes, it is unbelievable to be able to exchange ideas across globe...it all depends on the individual spirit to enjoy such exchange and dialogue and take in everything positively.
But it does get ugly when exchange of words and ideas turns into a war of words. It just takes two letters to turn use into abuse...
But its great to see positive vibes dominating at Insta...

So long is it remains exchange of ideas and does not get into imposing of ideas, I think it provides a wonderful platform.
I know about a writer here at Insta who left because of too many - ve comments she received... probably took it too personally amd probably the topic of discussion itself caused the tiff. But that is a one off case.. I have never seem rude comments here at insta and you are correct in saying lots of +ve vibes here at Insta.

However the words ”More readerships and reader’s feedback do give a boost to writers. Here at insta, we have huge scope to give feedback, get feedback and improve our writing skills. This is very informative article for all budding writers, but in the end I felt it was just a clever promotion writeup for twitter.
Btw, ”The habit and skill of revising for brevity and clarity is one of the secrets to good writing.” is a good point.

I agree with this excerpt that revision for brevity and clarity is a major weapon for good writer. Not just that as Deepa puts it-typo diarrhea-is also taken care off by this habit. The more your revise the more flaws you would find and thus the better your writing gets. This apart, I don’t quiet believe that twitter is the ultimately solution to good writing. Yes, it is one of the remedies but not the entire solution. Reading has got a lot to do with good writing. The more you read the better your writing gets.

@ Atul.. i couldn’t agree less.. My bro says that writing and oratory skills r like sharp weapons which get blunt over a very short period of time and need to be sharpened every day to keep abreast with the world’s pace.. the only way is vociferous reading!
3 Stars
@ Ruchi, Absolutely right. These skills needs to be developed and sharpened and for that you need to do some homework regularly.
