Maharashtra is my home state and I’m glad to know it is so.. This is because we have some of the best infrastructure in the entire nation and the Mumbai is a brand name. However, the politics in our state is disgusting. I hope they all mind their business and stop acting like hooligans

The latest irrational political stunt is too woo all marathi voters by forcing marathi lingo on signboards of all the shops in the city.

Compared to the ’Garden’ city of Bangalore, infrastructure is definitely better... I really get disgusted at what is happening at the political front.. To woo Marathi voters..

Jaiyant, see what unplanned development does to a city? Not so long ago, infrastructure in Bangalore was so much better than amchi Mumbai. Roads were big and clean and hardly any traffic.. I have always loved Pune but even there now a days traffic is getting bad... We have reactive govt in India, not proactive.

Yes, Maharashtra has been quite progressive state with large pool of resources, man-power, infrastructure and also ready market. Even a mega-city like Mumbai is supported by upcoming cities like Pune, Nashik and Aurangabad within its close proximity. There are very few states that can boast of so many independent industrial and commercial centers.
I was talking to a professor from Canadian University who had been to a conference related to development of Asia-pacific region and he was telling me even in that conference (held in Sydney), most people were of the opinion that amongst cities, Mumbai and Sydney were much better to work compared to Shanghai or even Singapore and Hong kong.
What we severely lack however is World class infrastructure. Airports, transportation, roads, rails, telecom, internet and power are no where near the global standard. And on top of it, we have new political parties who are destabilizing and threatening the business environment just to get a foothold in the state politics.
So on one hand we have investment, progress, development, opportunities in Maharashtra and on the other we have narrow minded petty politicians who can be a roadblock in progress.

We certainly lack in infrastructure. Getting about in Mumbai has never been so troublesome and time consuming. Inspite of all the flyovers, traffic still moves at a snail’s pace. Wonder why we cannot make us e of the fact that Mumbai is an island. We can have a well-designed waterway public transport system that can go all around the city. This will reduce the toll on roads.

You know deepa, the good news is lots of infrastructure development is taking place and water transport is also a part of it. You must have seen how airports are also being made up..... but all this will take time and as the boards at construction sites says ”please bear with us for better tomorrow”.. wonder if the tomorrow will ever come :)

With the way things and people are moving in the city, I suppose such projects need to accelerate ASAP.

Absolutely right. I really pity people who have to travel to their offices in Narmian Point from suburbs every day. It takes almost 2 hours to cover about 24 km! Trains are by far the best option if you need to travel fast but its impossible to go in them during peak hours espl if you are staying beyond Andheri... My friend takes about 1 and half hour just to travel from Andheri to Kandivali E by car in evenings.... you are right we need development ASAP

Cut the sorrys there as most of the Mumbaites still prefer their land to be called as Bombay. I too cringe at that fact.

”neta-capped hooligans” - correct description.... And still Maharashtra is much better compared to other states! Hope these hooligans don’t succeed in driving out businesses from here.

These politicians want money flowing in to their states so they will never turn down millions n billions coming their way via lucrative investments. But if only they could provide the state and its capital with appropriate infrastructure.
