First and foremost, allow me to brush up your knowledge about an uncommon musical instrument, the banjolele. It is a fusion of the banjo and ukulele and was popular in the era of the ’20s and ’30s. Though in this day and age such ancient...

Hello Deepa,
Beatle George Harrison’s father (or was it John Lennon’s, I’m not sure) played this instrument, and you can hear it at the end of the 5DVD boxed st ”The Story of The Beatles”; (The scene, filmed in B/W, represents Harrison’s (or Lennon’s) father, a music-hall performer).

Interesting history this unusual instrument has. Had read that George Harrison, who had bought it wanted to gift it back to the Formby family, but they instead bought it from him.
The donor has a big heart indeed.

Hello Deepa,
As a musician, I found this article interesting. If you want to hear the banjolele, it’s played at the and of the last DVD in the 5 DVD boxed set of the Story of the Beatles (excellent for those who want to know a little about the Beatles). The last scene is in black-and-white, featuring a guy performing on stage. It represents George Harrison’s father, who played the instrument during his short career as a music-hall type musician.
Have a good day....
