I was watching the story on television with as much disgust as I was amused. This is the height of materialism in religion. A diamond studded mobile phone worth over three lakhs for Ganesha or is it a donation to the high priest of the temple? Or did the 'devotee' take a vow asking the Lord that if he gets a mobile showroom franchisee he will donate one to the Lord?

lol, I like your idea about some devotee getting a mobile showroom franchisee and hence donating one to the Lord :)) But it wouldn’t be any normal showroom.....may be one that sells only such luxury cell phones.

Maybe now the mobile carriers should chip in with free lifetime talk time and free SMSs on that particular number that Ganesha would be using now. Then the god Ganesha is, he can miraculously show 'no calls' in the billing software of the carrier!

Voip is the future in cell phone technology. I dont know about diamonds or whatever but Residential VOIP is already big so its only a matter of time before its mobile.
