Vijay,

you will do us a great favour by putting out exclusive pictures of a hero, who other sportsmen want to look up to.

He has Doon proud.

He has given India a place in the medal tally (After a very long gap).

Oh Yes Jessica... it is indeed time for jubilation!!!
With very limited sports facilities back here in India, it is indeed fantastic that we got this Gold medal in individual event.... He will be a hero of India.

Abhinav Bindra, thanx for bringing India on the Olympic map.

You sure are a hero back home.

Never has this nation of over 1 billion people obtained and individual gold.

Deepa thanx for updating us.

The way the controversy about denying a Manipur women weightlifter a chance to compete in the Olympics had erupted up, I had more or less written of any chance of winning any medal.

In the back of the mind though Samresh Jung and other sharp shooter did linger.

It may not have been a Jung but Bindra has given a nation struggling for a place under in the sporting field some reason to smile.

And hopefully the cricket obsessed nation will have some other sport to discuss about.

Yupp Ravinder, I just heard in news, that Abhinav didn’t have the privilege of any special training or facility. Apparently he had set up his pratice unit at home only!
Now that’s sad to know that such talents get no or less recognition back home :(

Yes Ravinder, even I felt we were strong in shooting but honestly never expected a Gold.
And this indeed will inspire individuals to take up this sport and many other where individual talents can shine....

But just wait and see how the officials and govt will jump on this opportunity to bask in glory....

@ Deepa ”I just heard in news, that Abhinav didn’t have the privilege of any special training or facility.”....
Thats the sorry state of sports in India... makes sports person like Abhinav really special ... I can imagine the hardship he went thru in his journey to winning Gold
